Phil Hellmuth: The Guy You Love to Hate

Phil Hellmuth playing poker

Phil Hellmuth, part of the world poker tour , was born in 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin. Currently he resides in Palo Alto, California with his wife and two sons. Phil started playing poker in 1985, just four years before he took the title as the Poker Champion of the World in 1989.

Phil is nicknamed, "The Poker Brat." This comes from his attitude and ego, which are in full force whenever he is at a table. Along with his strong attitude comes an aggressive style of play. This has lead to him being on of fiercest poker players on the globe, with plenty of wins to back up his attitude and ego.

Hellmuth is part of the Team UB. This team is composed of: Annie Duke, Antonion Esfandiari and Dave Ulliot. He also has a series of books and instructional videos for sale. Hellmuth's books and videos are good for novice players looking to quickly get up to speed. For the more experienced players his videos and books are not as useful, although there are some good tidbits.
