Liars Poker Rules - A Bluffers Game
Liars poker is a fun and entertaining game that really highlights the importance of bluffing as an essential skill. It uses some very basic elements of poker, such as the betting structure and a high card winning objective. The game can be played with anywhere from 2 to 10 players. It begins with a starting deal of one card per player. Interestingly, players are not allowed to look at their own cards; and can actually be fined (such as $1) for doing so. After the deal is complete, each player holds up their card for all others to see. Betting then begins with the player to the left of the dealer. Once this is complete, each player is allowed to see their card. The highest card wins and takes the pot. Dealing then begins again with a rotation to the next player to the left of the dealer, and so on. A full game continues until the whole deck is dealt out. The game is played with an order that has aces high and deuces low. Based on the fact that players cannot see their own card, they are forced to make decisions based on everyone else’s reaction to their card, as well as the cards they see. This makes for some exciting (and funny) bluffing and betting.
