Annie Duke: Better than Palin and Clinton

Annie Duke playing poker

Annie Duke was born in Concord, New Hampshire in 1965. She was encouraged by her brother, Howard Lederer, to play tournament poker. Annie took a few lessons from her brother, and spent a lot of time reading books on poker strategy. In 1994 Annie moved to Las Vegas and in her first World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament she placed 13th, eliminating her brother in the event. In 2004 she took home the $2 million winners pot at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Invitational Championship, where she defeated the nine male champions at the table.

Annie has an educated style of play. This is probably due to the fact that she has a Master's Degree from Colombia University, and was in a Ph.D. program prior to playing poker. Duke is known as one of the top women players in the world, and consistently finishes ahead of her male contemporaries.

Annie is the leading World Series of Poker (WSOP) money winner for women, and has more WSOP money finishes than any other female player.

You can read more about Annie Duke at her website here.
