5 Card Stud Poker Rules
5 Card Stud poker is what most adults have their common conception of poker. The game is played with a standard 52 card deck and each player receives during the course of the game, obviously five cards. The hands are dealt in such a manner however, that three of these cards are face up and seen by opponents. The dealer begins by dealing one card, face down to each player ("hole" card). A second card is then dealt to each player, but this time face up. Once the cards are dealt, the betting begins, starting with the worst hand at the table (usually the lowest card by suit, note order). In online games, the software indicates the betting order. Betting procedures, with call, raise, and fold options are the same as other games. Once this betting round is complete, a single card is dealt to each player, again face-up. The players now have three cards; two of them face-up. The next betting round begins but this time, starts with the best hand. Once complete, a fourth card is dealt face-up once again, to each player. As with the last round, the next betting round begins with the best hand. The final card is dealt to each player, face-down. A final betting round begins once again with the highest hand and is followed by a final betting round. After betting, players show their hands. The highest five-card hand wins the entire pot. Other variations of 5 Card Stud exist, but the main variation is in the number of hole cards. Other formats for example, only allow one hole card, the one on the first deal. As well, betting is determined by the stakes being offered at a particular table, which set the limit. An example would be a $1-$2 table, which would have a limit on any bet is set at $1 on the first two betting rounds and $2 on the final two betting rounds.
